5-Acre Corn Maze on Thistle Downs Farm

Autumn is an especially exciting time on the farm, as we have visitors stopping in from all over the place to grab some pumpkins, meet our goats, take pictures with our giant skeleton and, new for the 2021 season, check out our 5 ACRE CORN MAZE!

Last year, we spent all summer building our custom 20-foot tall skeleton for people to enjoy when they stop in. It was a huge undertaking, but we’re incredibly proud with how it turned out!

The newest member of our farm…Our giant skeleton!

This year, we set our sights higher and are now in the process of building a 5 acre corn maze right next to our pumpkin patch! This is our first year doing a corn maze so there is certainly a lot of learning on the fly, but so far so good.

Once the corn was about 6 inches high, we mapped out our maze with construction spray paint and mowed out the paths with the tractor. We will mow the maze about once a week from now until you come check it out this autumn. You won’t want to miss it!

Pick-Your-Own Pumpkins on Thistle Downs Farm

This year, we planted almost two thousand pumpkin plants in our pumpkin patch, more than double what we planted last year. Whether you want to take a stroll out into the field to choose your pumpkins, or would like to select from the various pumpkin displays scattered about the farm, you’ll have plenty of options to choose from!

And due to popular demand, we grow a variety of specialty pumpkins as well. Between the blues, pinks, whites, and green stackables, people can’t seem to get enough of them. You’ll be able to find our selection of pre-picked specialties displayed in the storefront.

Meet the Animals

During your farm visit, make sure to swing by the animal pen and say hi to our furry friends! Every weekend throughout the autumn season, you’ll be able to feed our friendly goats, as well as the newest addition to Thistle Downs Farm, out micro-pig, Buffy!

More About the Farm…

Thistle Downs Farm is a family-owned 100 acre farm located in Hebron, NY. Established in 1991 by my parents, Terry and Jackie, they’ve ensured the farm has seen its fair share of life, love, and adventure.

Since I can remember, we’ve cultivated beautiful flower gardens on the farm, as well as sprawling fruit and vegetable gardens. We also grow fruit trees, pumpkins, sweet corn, and ornamental corn.

We’ve raised numerous animals on the farm throughout the years as well including chickens, pigs, ducks, quail, turkeys, cows, goats, sheep, and rabbits. Some of the barnyard animals are just for fun, while others have graced our dinner table. And our hens make sure we always have fresh eggs on hand as well!

Thistle Downs’ Designated Blogger…

My name is Cody and I am fortunate enough to have grown up on Thistle Downs Farm. I’ve learned so many valuable lessons here, both from my childhood and as an adult, and this inspired me to start sharing these valuable experiences with you!

Together with my dad, Terry, and sister, Kayla, we’ve started documenting our unique country insights and rural adventures right here for you to enjoy.

Unfortunately, I don’t live on Thistle Downs anymore, as growing up forced me to get a real job and move to suburbia, at least for now. This predicament however, has provided us with an opportunity to do something truly unique for our blog.

In my current living situation, I focus mostly on suburban style farming and gardening, as well as some indoor gardening, mainly microgreens and succulents. My dad and sister meanwhile, focus more on the traditional aspects of rural homesteading and country life.

Kayla also does a lot of crafting, no matter the time of year. She loves using natural wood for her creations, as well as mason jars and does a great job capturing the beauty and essence of the farm.
