The team at Thistle Downs Farm feels incredibly honored to have participated in ‘Pitbull Awareness Day’, hosted by the amazing volunteers at ‘Out of the Pits.’
‘Out of the Pits’ is a not-for-profit organization originally founded in 1994 to educate the public about the true nature of the American Pit Bull Terrier. In addition to their focus on education, the organization launched a low cost Pit Bull spay-neuter program called “Fix-A-Bull” along with providing shelter outreach, fostering/adoption, owner counseling and a number of other services to help our furry friends.
We set-up a “Thistle Downs Farm Dog” photo booth, offered paw-print pumpkin decorating and our homemade pumpkin peanut butter dog treats. We met (and played with) a whole bunch of sweet pups, almost all of whom were previously rescued through ‘Out of the Pits’. The money we raised went directly to the organization, and will go towards food, housing, and veterinary care for pooches in need!
