Ingredients
This pesto recipe is quick, fun, and super easy. And all you need is five ingredients!
-2 cups fresh basil leaves
-1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
-1/2 cup olive oil
-4 tbsp pine nuts
-3 cloves of garlic, peeled
You will also need a food processor to make homemade pesto. Chopping and mixing it all by hand will be extremely tedious and you won’t get that classic consistency that you want.
(If you don’t have a food processor or blender and want to try it by hand, I’m sure you will still make something tasty that will go great with a baguette. Just don’t expect it to turn out like the food processed version!)
Steps to Make Homemade Pesto
I’m a huge garlic lover so I used 6 cloves but I would recommend starting with 3. Since the garlic is raw, it adds a real bite to the flavor. Peel the cloves and add them to the processor.
Measure out the olive oil, Parmesan cheese, and pine nuts, add it into the processor.
Finally, pick about 2 cups of fresh basil, wash leaves, and add them right in.
Literally just throw all of these ingredients in a food processor and blend it to the desired consistency!
Enjoy with a baguette or whatever else you like to enjoy your pesto with!!
Conclusion
It’s really THAT easy to make your own homemade pesto, and when you use basil that you’ve harvested yourself, it always tastes better!
Another great part about this recipe is that you can easily adjust the amounts of the ingredients to suit your tastes. It’s really really hard to screw up homemade pesto as long a you use this recipe as a basic blueprint.
So have fun and enjoy making your own pesto!
